A Taps For Veterans Event
The National Moment of Remembrance is an annual event that asks Americans, wherever they are at 3:00 p.m. local time on Memorial Day, to pause for a duration of one minute to remember those who have died in military service to the United States. The time 3 p.m. was chosen because it is the time when most Americans are enjoying time off from work for the national holiday. The Moment was first proclaimed in May 2000 for Memorial Day that year, and was put in law by the United States Congress in December 2000.
Because of the current health crisis the United States has been forced to cancel almost all annual commemorations which include ceremonies, wreath-laying and parades.
It would be fitting to remember those who died in service to our country as well as those who have died of the COVID-19 virus and also to honor those who are on the front lines battling the disease by sounding Taps on Memorial Day, May 25th at 3 pm (local). You can sound the call from your home, porch, or on your front lawn. We would advise against asking folks to gather in any type of group. Maybe you can tell your neighbors to open their windows.
Make a video after you perform and post it online on the TAPS FOR VETERANS EVENTS YOUTUBE CHANNEL
Registered performers will receive a link to upload their video to YouTube on Sunday May 24
Once again, due to orders in many states against any types of gathering, I suggest you sound the call from your front porch or driveway.
How to get involved:
Make sure you practice Taps
You can download the music here: https://www.tapsbugler.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/TAPS-MUSIC.jpg

You should let your neighbors know about the tribute.
As you would be aware, many nations are in a mandated isolation due to COVID-19.
On Memorial Day May 25. I am planning to sound Taps at 3 PM after all Americans observe a minute of silence for the National Moment of Remembrance. It would be fitting to remember those who died in service to our country as well as those who have died of the COVID-19 virus and also to honor those who are on the front lines battling the disease
This short event is sponsored by Taps For Veterans.
We are encouraging residents to stand in their driveways at this time to show their support. You are urged NOT to gather in any one place.
I really hope you can join us and take a moment to reflect.
We may be isolated, but we can still be united on Memorial Day at 3 PM for our National Moment of Remembrance
EVERY REGISTERED PARTICIPANT WILL RECEIVE A TAPS FOR VETERANS PATCH
Unfortunately we cannot mail patches outside the United States at the current time.
